Summary

Yebeteka is a live classifieds-style marketplace with accounts, categories and city browsing, posted once for user testing in July 2025 with no activity since. The site claims 10k+ listings and 150k+ messages, but the featured section says 'No listings found', so those numbers look like placeholders. There's no payment, pricing or revenue model, and the idea has no clear edge over existing Ethiopian classifieds sites.

Bloat · Not much here works or looks likely to last, yet.

Breakdown

Five measures, 100 points each. Open the receipts under any of them to see the posts and pages behind the points.

Viability

Is there a real problem, someone who would pay, and a market this builder can actually reach?

Classifieds in Ethiopia are a real need, but nothing shows a way to charge anyone, and the market already has established players. There's no pricing, no payments and no sign of real users.

28/100

Rubric 21–40A real problem, but no plausible path to anyone paying, or a market well out of this builder's reach.

Receipts (3)

  1. The homepage lists categories and cities for an Ethiopian marketplace, so the problem is real, but featured listings are empty ('No listings found').

    Checked 7 Oct 2026 · yebeteka-mvp-front.vercel.app (opens in a new tab)

  2. The site has no pricing, payment provider or monetisation such as promoted ads, so there's no stated route to revenue.

    Checked 7 Oct 2026 · yebeteka-mvp-front.vercel.app (opens in a new tab)

  3. The post frames this as an MVP seeking user testing, so demand hasn't been shown yet.

“Hey Guys, how are you doing?? i currently started working on some E-commerce site. And i wanted to do some user testing, break it if you have too and I need critical feedback, check it out and let me know, the link is https://yebeteka-mvp-front.vercel.app Create listings, sign up, navigate through it and if you can submit the form in the site which can be accessed through a floating button "subm”

Moat

What stops someone copying it?

A generic classifieds template with category and city lists that anyone here could rebuild quickly. There's no local payment integration, Amharic support, data or distribution that would slow a copy.

10/100

Rubric 0–20A thin wrapper or a clone that anyone here could rebuild in a weekend.

Receipts (2)

  1. The page is English-only and a standard marketplace layout, with no Amharic or local-specific features visible.

    Checked 7 Oct 2026 · yebeteka-mvp-front.vercel.app (opens in a new tab)

  2. It has no payments, no listings and no sign of proprietary data or network effects.

Momentum

Did the updates keep coming?

It was shipped once, on 2025-07-15, and there have been no updates in the 449 days since, so there's no sustained cadence to show.

Infrastructure

Does a real, working product exist?

A live marketplace site with accounts, listing creation and a feedback form exists, but it looks early, with empty featured listings and stats that don't match the content.

  • Real product25/35

A working site with signup, listing creation, messaging and a feedback form exists, but it appears thin: no real listings show on the homepage, and the headline stats look hardcoded.
