Summary

A live but dormant Telegram classifieds bot. It has a plausible use case, but no revenue model, no payments, and no activity for over three years. Nothing in the dossier shows real usage, operations, or a way to sustain it.

Bloat · Not much here works or looks likely to last, yet.

Breakdown

Five measures, 100 points each. Open the receipts under any of them to see the posts and pages behind the points.

Viability

Is there a real problem, someone who would pay, and a market this builder can actually reach?

Classifieds is a real need, but the bot is explicitly free and has no stated way to earn. Telegram already has many buy/sell groups and channels, so a plain listing bot has a weak case for paying users.

22/100

Rubric 21–40A real problem, but no plausible path to anyone paying, or a market well out of this builder's reach.

Receipts (2)

  1. Pitched as letting people share items for sale without any payment, so no monetisation is stated.

Moat

What stops someone copying it?

A listing bot on Telegram is easy to rebuild in a weekend, and nothing here is proprietary, such as local payment integrations, data, or network effects.

8/100

Rubric 0–20A thin wrapper or a clone that anyone here could rebuild in a weekend.

Receipts (2)

  1. Generic buy/sell description with no distinguishing local feature.

    Checked 7 Oct 2026 · t.me/ethio_market_place_bot (opens in a new tab)

  2. The only technical differentiator mentioned is a third-party API for categorising messages, which anyone could also use.

“Hello, I'm Biruk and I'm a developer at @ethio_market_place_bot. We are currently working on integrating the Fana API into our e-commerce app to help us categorize and sort messages more easily. The Fana API is really easy to integrate into any app, and it's really nice because it takes all the work out of categorizing messages for you. Momentum

Did the updates keep coming?

Only two posts over about four months in 2022, and nothing for over 1,400 days, so momentum is effectively stalled.

Infrastructure

Does a real, working product exist?

The bot still responds on Telegram, so a working product exists, but there is no evidence of depth, docs, or backend beyond a categorisation integration that was still in progress.

58/100

  • It's live20/20

    https://t.me/ethio_market_place_bot responded when checked.

  • HTTPS5/5

Hosted on a platform (store, GitHub or Telegram) — HTTPS is the platform's.

  • Real product25/35

The bot responds and starts, so something works, but the dossier gives no sign of how complete the listing and buying flow is. The second post only says integration of a categorisation API is in progress.

  • Own home5/10

A Telegram bot, no home of its own.

  • Maintained0/15

    Last sign of shipping 2022-11-03.

  • Operations3/15

It runs on one platform with no docs, API, status page, or visible backend. The only hint of operations is a mention of an e-commerce app and a developer working on API integration.

  3. A categorisation feature is described as still being integrated, suggesting the product was unfinished.

  4. Mentions a developer and an API integration, which implies some backend work.

Sustainability

Is it being set up to last?

Distribution through Telegram is reasonable, but the product is free, has no payments, pricing, privacy policy, terms, or support contact, and the team has gone quiet, so nothing sustains it.

24/100

  • Distribution20/30

A Telegram bot or mini app.

  • Payments0/15

    No payment provider found.

  • Pricing0/10

No pricing found on the site.

  • Revenue0/5

The posts show no paying customers or revenue, and the product is advertised as free.

  • Privacy policy0/7

    No privacy policy found.

  • Terms0/5

    No terms of service found.

  • Support0/8

    No support contact found.

  • Commitment4/20

A second developer appears in the November 2022 post, and a feature was in progress, but there is no roadmap, community channel, or funding, and activity stopped that month.
